Carson-Byfield-Levin Finish Pre-season with Combined 25 Points

In their final exhibition game Sunday afternoon, the Sudbury Wolves fell by a 6-4 final to the Soo Greyhounds. Although the Wolves were unable to come out on top with the victory, the line of Macauley Carson, Quinton Byfield, and David Levin continued to click through Sunday’s game, tallying a total of nine points, to finish off the pre-season with a combined 25 points.

Levin had two goals and an assist, Byfield had a goal and two assists, while Carson assisted three times. It was a strong pre-season for the combination as Carson and Byfield lead the Wolves with nine points in six and five games respectively, and Levin lead the team in goals with four goals in five games.

Greyhound’s OA Keeghan Howdeshell scored his first of two in the opening period to take a 1-0 lead. The Hounds edged the Wolves with shots on net 13-12 in their favour.

Midway through the second period a flutter of goals came as Cullen McLean, Quinton Byfield, and Ryan Roth all scored in the span of 41 seconds. With the Hounds leading by a score of 3-1, Levin exploded scoring back to back goals 45 seconds apart to tie the game.

Two quick goals in the first four minutes of the third from the Greyhounds gave the Hounds a go-ahead lead. The first was Howdeshell’s second of the game while the second was notched by Robert Calisti. A hard-shot from the point from Cole Candella marked the veteran defenseman’s first of the pre-season. Ryan O’Rourke added one more goal for the Greyhounds to end the game with a 6-4 final, with shots on net 36-34 in favour of the Wolves.
