The Sudbury Wolves are pleased to announce that defenceman OWEN LALONDE has committed to the Sudbury Wolves Hockey Club by signing an OHL Standard Player Agreement. Owen was selected by the Wolves 2nd overall in the OHL Priority Selection this past spring.
“We are extremely excited to announce the signing of Owen Lalonde,” said Sudbury Wolves General Manager Barclay Branch Monday afternoon. “Owen is a very talented player, and a special person. His abilities on the ice, along with his character and leadership, will be very important components to the foundation of our hockey club and a huge part of the Wolves’ success moving forward.”
The 6’, 171lbs right-shot defenceman averaged 1.12 points per game for the Windsor AAA Zone Minor Midgets last season and was also named the ALLIANCE Player the Year for the 2015-16 season.
“It’s an honour to be committed to the team,” said Owen. “I am really looking forward to playing for the Wolves’ organization. The coaches and staff have high hopes for this team in the next couple of years and I am looking forward to being a part of it,” he added.
The Windsor, ON native was selected to participate in the 2016 OHL Gold Cup for Team Alliance as well as selected to participate in the 2016 U17 National Summer Evaluation Camp in Calgary, AB, from July 28-August 1.
Owen attended the Sudbury Wolves Orientation Camp back in April and will return to the Nickel City when the Wolves open up their Main Training Camp on September 1st.
