Sokolov Competes at World Juniors for Team Russia

Dmitry Sokolov is currently representing his country at the World Juniors in Buffalo as he suits up for Team Russia. Sokolov was invited to attend Team Russia’s training camp on December 17th where the electrifying forward earned himself a spot on the roster.

The Wolves goal and point leader currently has two points in two games in the tournament after picking up two assists in Thursday’s match-up against Switzerland. Russia soundly defeated the Swiss with a 5-2 victory to even out their record after dropping a close game to the Czech Republic on the opening day of the tournament. Team Russia is now at the halfway point of the preliminary round with two more games remaining before the quarter and semi-final rounds.

Sokolov has suited up for his country on the world stage on multiple occasions including the U-17 and U-18 World Hockey Championships. Fans had the opportunity to watch him in a Russian jersey when he played for Team Russia during the CIBC Canada Russia Series back in November at the Sudbury Arena. In true Sokolov fashion, he scored a beautiful goal in front of the home fans and added a spirited celebration.

Fans can watch Sokolov and Team Russia on TSN for the final two preliminary games of the World Junior Championship:

Friday, December 29th vs. Belarus at 12:00 pm

Sunday, December 31st vs. Sweden at 8:00 pm
