Sokolov Returns to Winning Wolves
(Sudbury, ON) Dmitry Sokolov, last season’s Top Goal Scorer, returns to the Sudbury Wolves after successful training camp with the Minnesota Wild in time to get ready for this Friday’s Home Opener. Sokolov showed great progress and impressed the coaching staff and Minnesota organization who have high hopes for his continued development under Wolves new Head Coach Cory Stillman. The addition of Sokolov to the roster will provide the team with an extra offensive burst for the upcoming season.
The Wolves are coming off a successful weekend, beating the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in back to back home and home final exhibition action. They showed a flash of offensive brilliance by putting up a combined 14 goals in both contests. David Levin put together a 5-point campaign on Sunday’s 8-4 victory in Sault Ste. Marie, while Macauley Carson and Ryan Valentini were also able to find the back of the net.
Looking to start the season off on the right track, the Wolves will be hosting the Oshawa Generals on Friday for the home opener. Wolves’ fans should be excited with the great momentum coming from last weekend, leading up to the season opener. The chemistry of the team, the mix of returning veteran players and youthful enthusiastic players seem to be developing well and it should make for a strong start to the year.
In other news, defenceman Brandon Bastasin has been released from the roster to join the Burlington Cougars of the OJHL.
