For the second time in three seasons, a Sudbury Wolves captain has been invited to the TEAM CANADA U20 SELECTION CAMP in Calgary, Alberta. FRANK CORRADO is the latest Sudbury Wolves invitee to Canada`s top selection camp, following in the footsteps of former Wolves` captain MARCUS FOLIGNO who last represented the Sudbury Wolves in a TEAM CANADA uniform in 2011. Corrado, 19, has been a stalwart for the Sudbury Wolves this season and was named captain of the team by Coach Trent Cull.
“We are really excited for Frank and he has earned it” said the Wolves’ bench boss. “Frank continues to raise his level of play and he did it in the Canada-Russia game in Sarnia and the Hockey Canada evaluators recognized that. I know he will be in a situation where there will be a ton of competition for the eight defensive positions on that team due to the lock-out, but Frank has always been able to perform well in pressure situations. On behalf of the Wolves organization I wish Frank all the best.”
Corrado will leave for Calgary next Monday and will take part in day one of the evaluation camp on Wednesday. The difficult decisions will be made by Hockey Canada officials and players will be finalized by the following Wednesday, December 19th.
Wolves’ forward JOSH LEIVO was also on the radar for TEAM CANADA however an untimely concussion suffered last weekend all but ended his chances of being invited. LEIVO is expected to resume skating this week and could return to the Wolves’ line-up this weekend if everything goes well in practice this week.
