Wolves Announce December Player of the Month Award Winners
The Sudbury Wolves are pleased to announce their December Player of the Month award winners.
SKATER’S EDGE PLAYER OF THE MONTH
The Skater’s Edge Player of the Month for December is Wolves newcomer, KIRILL NIZHNIKOV whom the Wolves acquired from the Barrie Colts in early December. In 8 games with the Wolves this past month, the Russian born forward scored 4 goals and added 6 assists for 10 points. He is also considered a top prospect for this summer’s NHL Entry Draft and was invited to participate in the Sherwin-Williams CHL Top Prospects game set to take place later this month in Guelph. The Sudbury Wolves would like to congratulate Kirill on his strong play this month.
MOLSON 3-STAR PLAYER OF THE MONTH
MARIO CULINA has been named the December Molson 3-star award winner. The overage goaltender joined the Wolves squad in late November and was named the first star of the game on December 15th against the Hamilton Bulldogs and the second star on December 1st against the Mississauga Steelheads. In 8 games played with the Wolves this season, Mario has a record of 2 wins, 4 losses and 1 overtime loss. He also has a save percentage of 0.895. The Sudbury Wolves would like to congratulate Mario on his effort in December.
WOLVES UNITED COMMUNITY PLAYER OF THE MONTH
First year forward ANTHONY TABAK has been named the December Wolves United Community Player of the month. The Oakville native participated in a number of community initiatives this past month including the annual Skate with the Wolves, Christmas Break Hockey Camp and Santa Claus Parade. He also attended the St. Charles Christmas Party where he skated with young fans and participated in many fun Christmas activities. Tabak was selected by the Wolves in the 3rd round of the 2017 OHL Priority Selection and has 4 goals and 6 assists in 31 games. The Sudbury Wolves wish to recognize Anthony’s outstanding energy and youth engagement and are pleased to have him as a member of our organization and the Greater Sudbury community.
REG WILKINSON SCHOLASTIC PLAYER OF THE MONTH
The November Reg Wilkinson Scholastic Player of the Month is first year forward NOLAN HUTCHESON. Nolan has maintained an average of 84% at St. Charles College where he is enrolled in University Level Advanced Functions, Biology and Health. Nolan was selected by the Wolves in the 4th round of the 2016 OHL Priority Selection. The Sudbury Wolves wish to congratulate Nolan on his hard work on and off the ice this season.
TESC HARDEST WORKING FORWARD OF THE MONTH
DARIAN PILON is the TESC Hardest Working forward of the month for December. Darian has been a driving force for the Sudbury Wolves this season. The Sault Ste. Marie native has worked extremely hard and has become a vital part of the team. Darian finished December with 2 goals and 5 assists in 9 games. In 32 games, Darian has 18 points, just two points shy of surpassing his point totals from last season. The Wolves would like to congratulate Darian on his hard work and performance throughout the month of December.
TESC HARDEST WORKING DEFENCEMAN OF THE MONTH
The recipient of the TESC Hardest Working Defenceman for December is DOUG BLAISDELL. The overage defenceman was acquired by the Wolves in mid October from the Kitchener Rangers. The hardworking defensive defenseman provides strong leadership to the Wolves blueline and the Wolves would like to acknowledge Doug for his strong work ethic on and off the ice.
On-ice presentations will begin this Friday when the Wolves host the surging London Knights at 7:05pm. Tickets are on-sale now at the Sudbury Arena Box Office.
