Wolves Announce October Player of the Month Award Winners

The Sudbury Wolves are pleased to announce their players of the month award winners for the month of October.

SUDBURY WOLVES COMMUNITY PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Sudbury Wolves Alternate Captain MICHAEL PEZZETTA has been named the COMMUNITY PLAYER OF THE MONTH for his contribution to the City of Greater Sudbury during the month of October. PEZZETTA is a strong leader for the young Wolves squad and continuously looks out for his teammates. Michael helped kick off the 37th annual Big Nickel Hockey tournament earlier this week by speaking with players, organizers and volunteers. The Toronto, ON native is in his third season with the Wolves and was selected by the Montreal Canadiens this past summer.

MOLSON CANADIAN 3-STAR AWARD

Through his standout play during the month of October, goaltender ZACK BOWMAN has been awarded the MOLSON CANADIAN 3-STAR AWARD. Bowman was named the 1st star last Saturday against Barrie where he made 34 saves to lead the Wolves to a 4-1 victory. The St. Catharine’s native was also named the 2nd star once and 3rd star on two separate occasions. In 11 games this season, Bowman has a record of 4-4-1 and holds a goals against average of 3.28 and a save percentage of 0.900. The Sudbury Wolves wish to congratulate Zack on his strong play in the early part of the season.

SUDBURY WOLVES HARDEST WORKING FORWARD

The SUDBURY WOLVES HARDEST WORKING FORWARD for the month of October is sophomore MACAULEY CARSON. CARSON is having a breakout season early on as he currently leads the Wolves offensively with 14 points in 15 games and has already surpassed his totals from last season. The Midhurst, ON native has a strong work ethic both on and off the ice and isn’t afraid to show his grit when needed. He continues to catch the eye of NHL scouts with his strong play.

SUDBURY WOLVES HARDEST WORKING DEFENCEMAN

17 year-old defenceman, REAGAN O’GRADY has been named the HARDEST WORKING DEFENCEMAN for the month of October. The Lindsay, ON native is entering his third season with the club and has had a steady presence on the blueline this season. O’GRADY holds the highest plus/minus rating on the Wolves with a plus 11 through 13 games and brings strong leadership to the young Wolves’ blueline. The alternate captain is a highly rated prospect for the upcoming NHL Draft.

REG WILKINSON MEN’S WEAR SCHOLASTIC PLAYER OF THE MONTH

The REG WILKINSON MEN’S WEAR SCHOLASTIC PLAYER OF THE MONTH is first year defenceman OWEN LALONDE, who is currently attending LaSalle Secondary School. Owen is enrolled in three university level courses which include Canadian Law, English and Chemistry, where he is achieving a 88% average to date. The Windsor native was the Wolves first round selection in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection, who they selected 2nd overall.  He is currently competing at the Under 17 World Hockey Challenge for Team Canada Black in Sault Ste. Marie where he has 1 goal and 1 assist in three games played.  The Sudbury Wolves wish to congratulate Owen on his tremendous work on and off the ice!

SKATER’S EDGE PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Wolves’ Captain KYLE CAPOBIANCO has been named the SKATER’S EDGE PLAYER OF THE MONTH for October. The Arizona Coyotes prospect recently signed with his NHL club and has been an exceptional leader for the young Wolves squad. The Mississauga, ON native currently sits 4th in team scoring with 11 points in 12 games and in the top 10 among defencemen around the OHL. The veteran defenceman will travel to North Bay next Thursday to suit up for Team OHL in game 3 of the Canada Russia Series. The Sudbury Wolves would like to congratulate Kyle on his tremendous play during the month of October.

Player of the month awards will be handed out prior to Friday night’s game when the defending Memorial Cup champions, the London Knights make their only appearance of the season at the Sudbury Arena at 7:00pm.
