The Sudbury Wolves announced Thursday that Andrew Dale has been named Vice-President of Marketing and Business Development.
Dario Zulich CEO, together with Blaine Smith, President of the Wolves, made the appointment effective immediately. Dale will oversee sales, marketing, communications and development reporting to Smith.
“Andrew is a great addition to the dedicated team we have within the sales, marketing and game-day promotions group,” said Smith. “He will provide further support and leadership to the team while building on the service and experience offered to customers, sponsors and fans. Andrew is from Greater Sudbury and an alumnus, having played 185 games in a Wolves uniform. He combines his hockey and business experience offering a great deal to the organization.”
Dale has been actively working with Zulich on a proposal coined True North Strong since November 2015. This project was proposed to City Council to replace the aging Sudbury Community Arena with a new event centre. Together with Zulich and their partner Perry Dellelce, they have proposed a regional entertainment destination, the city has since prioritized.
“It is very exciting to join the Sudbury Wolves organization and be part of this storied franchise for a second time, especially at this exciting time in the city’s great history,” Dale said. “I would like to thank Dario for the opportunities in the past couple years. Being part of one of the best brands in hockey is a dream. I look forward to working with the sales and marketing team, building on and contributing to, the vision that is being energized by new ownership.”
After finishing his OHL career with the Kitchener Rangers, Dale signed with the Los Angeles Kings and played 5 seasons of professional hockey, having won the Kelly Cup in 1999 with the Mississippi Sea Wolves. Dale graduated from Laurentian University with a Bachelor of Arts in 2001 and then again with a Master’s of Business Administration in 2007.
Dale was selected in 2008 to participate in the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference (GGCLC), Dale has been an active Alumnus in the unique leadership development program. He led the Greater Sudbury tour in 2012 and the Northern Ontario tour in 2015. Dale has volunteered on many local boards from childcare, to healthcare and minor sports.
“Andrew and I have worked closely together for several years,” said Zulich. “He has passion for the work he does in this community and brings a unique set of skills and experiences that will serve our organization very well in the new era of Wolves Hockey. He brings a solid network and blends all his experiences business and hockey into this position.”
