Wolves Blanked by Colts

The Sudbury Wolves welcomed their division rivals, the Barrie Colts for a matchup at the Sudbury Community Arena on Friday evening. In a challenging battle between the two squads, the Wolves earned one point when they fell to the Colts in overtime. The final score was 1-0 with final shots on goal 37-29 in favour of Sudbury.

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen had a near perfect game, making 28 saves on 29 shots on goal, while Jet Greaves earned a shutout for the Colts making 37 saves.

It was an extremely close game with no goals through all three periods. Both the Wolves and the Colts were evenly matched and were unable to put a shot past their opposing goaltenders, to force the game into an extra frame of 3 on 3 overtime.

After a physical overtime period that came with unlucky bounces for the Wolves, it was Jason Willms of the Barrie Colts who scored the game winning goal forcing the Wolves to drop the match 1-0.

The Wolves will hit the road to Barrie and will look to get revenge on the Colts in their barn tomorrow night at 7:30pm. The Wolves will also wrap up the weekend on the road in Hamilton where they will face off against the Bulldogs on Sunday at 2:00pm.
