Wolves Blanked by Generals

The Sudbury Wolves welcomed the Oshawa Generals to the Sudbury Arena on Friday night  for the final time this season as the Generals blanked the Wolves with 6-0 victory over the home team.

The night marked the return of rookie defensemen Zack Malik to the line-up who has been recovering from a broken wrist since December 15th.

Danil Antropov scored first for the Generals half way through the first as he beat Marshall Frappier to make it 1-0. The goal came as Antropov’s first of two on the evening. Matt Brassard’s slap shot from the point was redirected in front of a screened Frappier 3 minutes later by Serron Noel to make it 2-0. Antropov scored his second of the game before the period ended to extend the Generals lead to 3-0 after the first.

The Wolves held the Generals to one goal in the second frame as Allan McShane broke in alone and scored a one-handed goal to end Frappier’s night. Jake McGrath took over netminder duties for the remainder of the game.

Continued pressure from the Generals in the third period resulted in goals from Hayden McCool on the power play, and Noel with his second of the game. Final shots on goal 39-31 in favour of the Generals.
