It was a Wild Wednesday at the Elgin Street barn when the Wolves took on the Soo Greyhounds for the final time of the regular season. Nolan Hutcheson, Blake Murray and Adam Ruzicka each scored a goal to secure a 3-1 win over the Soo with final shots on goal 43-17 in favour of the Wolves. Quinton Byfield and Anthony DeMeo earned first and second stars of the game.
In the first period, the Wolves opened the scoring just under the 10 minute mark. Quinton Byfield carried the puck up in the slot and gave Nolan Hutcheson the perfect feed to find the open net to beat Matthew Villalta.
The Greyhounds found a way to beat Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen in the second period to tie the game up at one a piece on a goal by Jaden Peca. Evenly matched, the Wolves were unable to get a puck past Matthew Villalta before the end of period to leave the score tied at one.
In the final frame, Blake Murray stole back the lead for the Wolves when he scored on a breakaway to beat Matthew Villalta five-hole. With minutes winding down in the third and the Soo unable to tie up the game, Villalta got the nod to the bench with less than two minutes remaining in the game for the extra man advantage. With less than one minute left, Adam Ruzicka scored on the empty net.
