Wolves Host Spirit Friday

Red-hot Dmitry Sokolov and the Sudbury Wolves will host the Saginaw Spirit for the one and only time this season Friday night at 7:00pm at the Sudbury Arena. Sokolov currently leads the Wolves in notching 46 points in 39 games including 33 goals, good for 3rd among league leaders.

The Spirit are led upfront by overage forward, Hayden Hodgson. Hodgson leads the Spirit in goals with 22 and has 43 points on the season to place him 20th among OHL scorers. Detroit Red Wings defensive prospect Filip Hronek leads all Spirit defenceman in goals with 5 and has 21 points on the season. Hanmer native, Damien Giroux, will make his first OHL appearance at the Sudbury Arena since being drafted by the Spirit in the 3rd round of the 2016 OHL Priority selection.   In net, New Jersey Devils prospect Evan Cormier holds a record of 13-11-6 with a GAA of 3.30 and Save Percentage of 0.900.

Prior to Friday’s home game, the Wolves will travel down Highway 17 to visit their divisional rivals, the North Bay Battalion on Thursday in a divisional rematch at 7:00pm. The Wolves defeated the Battalion 3-2 last Friday at the Sudbury Arena.
