Wolves Stumble Against Colts
The Sudbury Wolves visited the Barrie Colts on Thursday night to take on the Central Division leaders. The Colts proved to be too dangerous as they skated away with a demanding 10-1 victory over the Wolves. Darian Pilon tallied the lone goal for the Wolves with assists going to Emmett Serensits and Blake Murray.
Colts defenseman Nathan Allensen opened the scoring as he caught a pass coming out of the penalty box and scored on a breakaway halfway through the frame. With under two minutes remaining in the period, Andrei Svechnikov capitalized on the power play to give the Colts a 2-0 lead entering the first intermission.
Lots of pressure from the Colts in the second period resulted in three goals from Aaron Lachuk, Zachary Magwood, and Sam Rhodes. Magwood scored his first of two on the evening coming after just missing on a penalty shot.
The third period opened quickly as Jaden Peca scored for the Colts 14 seconds into the frame to extend their lead to 6-0. Less than a minute later, Darian Pilon scored for the Wolves to put the team on the board. Bad news would continue for the Wolves as the Colts continued to score. Dmitry Sokolov scored his first goal as a Barrie Colt and his first against the Wolves going top shelf to make it 7-1. Ryan Suzuki added one before Peca and Magwood each scored their second of the game to extend the Colts lead to 10-1. Final shots on goal were 39-24 in favour of the Colts.
