Wolves Announce February’s Player of the Month Award Winners

The Sudbury Wolves are pleased to announce their PLAYERS OF THE MONTH AWARDS for the month of February.


Wolves leading goal scorer, NATHAN PANCEL has been named the Wolves’ winner of the MOLSON CANADIAN 3-STAR AWARD for the month of February. PANCEL led the Wolves with three 3-star selections in the month of February. The Ottawa native has welcomed his new leadership role with the club and has proven his ability to carry the team offensively along with linemates MATHEW CAMPAGNA and NICK BAPTISTE. During the month of February, PANCEL notched 5 goals and 3 assists for a total of 8 points in 11 games. The Wolves and MOLSON are very proud of NATHAN PANCEL and will look for him to continue his strong play as he leads the pack into the playoffs.



Sudbury Wolves’ forward NICK BAPTISTE has been named the WOLVES’ INDUSTRIAL ALLIANCE PLAYER OF THE MONTH. The Ottawa, Ontario native played accumulating 8 points on 2 goals and 6 assists. The 2012-13 season has seen the 17-year-old forward break onto the OHL scene as an impact player as he has posted 42 points in 60 games to date.   Baptiste has also become a very effective penalty-killer and an effective two-way forward which has made him one of the most valuable players on the Wolves’ roster.   The Wolves and INDUSTRIAL ALLIANCE are extremely proud of forward NICK BAPTISTE and his outstanding play in the month of February.



Wolves’ rookie, DANNY DESROCHERS is the CAMPBELL’S SCHOLASTIC PLAYER OF THE MONTH for the month of February.   DANNY attends St. Benedicts High School where he has achieved a 75% average in Biology, English and Project Work.  The North Bay native is in his first full season with the Wolves. In 52 games this season, the 6’ left-winger has notched 5 goals and 8 assists. The Sudbury Wolves join BILL NURMI JR. and CAMPBELLS in recognizing the outstanding accomplishments in the classroom of one of the Wolves’ promising young forwards – DANNY DESROCHERS.


CORY GENOVESE is the winner of the TRAVELODGE HOTEL SUDBURY COMMUNITY PLAYER OF THE MONTH AWARD.  During the month of February,   CORY made three school visits where he met with kids, signed autographs and answered questions about playing hockey in the OHL. The 6’2 defenceman has developed into a very solid and tough physical shut-down defenseman since his arrival from the Kitchener Rangers in early January.  The Sudbury Wolves will be relying on the Cambridge, Ontario native’s continued dedication to the Sudbury Wolves’ quest for play-off success.


Award presentations will begin this weekend as the Sudbury Wolves will play a weekend double-header on home ice including Friday night against the PETERBOROUGH PETES (7:35pm) and again on Sunday afternoon against the GUELPH STORM (2:05pm). One win for the Wolves this weekend, will guarantee a spot in the playoffs.  Great seat tickets are still available for both games so come on out and support the Sudbury Wolves and their PLAYERS OF THE MONTH!
