Wolves End First Half on High Note

Sunday afternoon, the Wolves hosted their northern rivals, the North Bay Battalion in an afternoon matinee. This game also marked the return of the Teddy Bear Toss! The game would go scoreless through three periods of play before Nathan Pancel would be in the hero in overtime to advance their winning streak to 8.  

The Wolves were dominate in the first and only allowed 4 shots on net after the first 20 minutes of action.  The Wolves would ran into a hot goalie, and were denied on all scoring chances in the first period of hockey.  The Wolves outshot the Battalion 15-4.

In the second period, both clubs shared a number of good scoring chances and chances on the powerplay however the game remained scoreless after two. 

With the shots at 28-16 in favour of the Wolves, both goaltenders shared the spotlight and displayed exceptional skills between the pipes at both ends of the rink.  With no score at the 10 minute mark of the third period, the Wolves asked the 4148 fans in attendance to toss their bears onto the ice. With the score still 0-0 after 3 periods of play, the teams were off to overtime.

NATHAN PANCEL would be the hero as he snuck the game winning goal past JAKE SMITH to give the Wolves another 2-point night. FRANKY PALAZZESE earned his 2nd shoutout of the season.

The Sudbury Wolves would like to thank all of the fans who donate stuffed animals to the TD Toy bank. Over 1560 bears and stuffed animals were tossed onto the ice during the time out. The Wolves would also like to thank the TRAVELODGE HOTEL SUDBURY for sponsoring Sunday’s game.

The Wolves will now head home to their families for the holiday break . They will return to action Saturday December 28th when the North Bay Battalion are back in town for a rematch. Game time is 7:00pm.
