2021 OHL Priority Selection June 4th-5th

For the first time since the implementation of the Priority Selection online in 2001, the event will be held over the course of two days, with the opening three rounds taking place on Friday, June 4 beginning at 7:00pm. The proceedings resume on Saturday, June 5 starting at 9:00am with Rounds 4-15. The Priority Selection will be streamed live in its entirety on the OHL’s YouTube channel.

The Priority Selection remains its customary 15 rounds in length, but unlike past years, it will be held in a serpentine arrangement, with the order of selection in the first round being reversed to begin Round 2 and alternating each round thereafter.

Quentin Musty  

Quentin is one of the top rated 2005-born players in North America. He is a big, strong, and highly skilled forward who is a constant danger in the offensive zone with a remarkable shot. He can use his size, speed, reach, agility and vision to beat defenders anywhere on the ice.  The 6’2”, 190 lbs. left shot forward, is an intelligent player who possess elite skills with the drive and determination to win. Quentin spent the 2020-21 season with the North Jersey Avalanche, where he recorded 23 goals and 33 assists for 56 total points in just 27 games on the way to a USA Hockey Youth Tier-1 U16 National Championship.

Alex Assadourian  

Alex Assadourian is one of the most complete players in the draft. As a centreman, he possesses an elite level hockey sense, and playmaking ability. He had a tremendous season prior to the pandemic where he had registered 70 points (40G-30A) in 41 games played. Alex is a young man that has been a leader on and off the ice for his team and has displayed excellence in the classroom. The Wolves are very excited to be adding an exceptional prospect and gentleman of character to our organization. Welcome to the Wolves, Alex!

Matthew Mania  

The Sudbury Wolves are proud and excited to announce its selection of Matthew Mania. A 6’0ft tall 185lb right shot defenceman, Matthew played up a level this season with the National Champion 16U North Jersey Avalanche (along with the Wolves 1st overall selection Quentin Musty).  Even at the higher level, Matthew proved to be one of the best defenceman in the country helping lead his team to the National Championship in St. Louis this spring. His poise with the puck and his heads up, play truly make him a special player. Matthew has great vision and distributes the puck, making the right play even under pressure. Matthew actively joins and leads the rush with his exceptional skating. His mobility on the blueline, his shot, and his offensive skills are truly elite. We are thrilled to add the best defenceman to the Sudbury Wolves Organization and are excited for his future with our team! Welcome to the Wolves Matthew!

 Michael Derbidge  

Michael is an offensive player with a great motor that teams struggled to contain. A natural goal-scorer who can identify even the tightest of opportunities. He creates his own space by driving hard down to the net from the slot and the half wall. Utilizes strength and brute force to edge out defenders to win puck battles.

 Nicholas Larkin  

Nick is a smooth skating defenceman who’s first pass is unmatched. He possesses excellent Hockey IQ and is a two-way defenceman. Nick is proficient in running a power play and on the penalty kill. He possesses excellent size and mobility combined with elite vision.

 Ben Rossi  

Ben is a very athletic goalie. His agility allows him to move extremely well inside the paint. His hockey smarts allow him to read the attack and make the correct save selection. He never gives up on a puck which is a trait that we love to see in our goalies. He wants to be the deciding factor in every game which makes him a big game goalie.

 Will Bishop  

Will Bishop, 6’4″, is a huge shutdown defenseman and is a fantastic skater. Bishop is a tough defender to get around and tough to play against below the hash marks in his own zone. He has a high accuracy rate with his first pass and a deceptive shot from the point.

 Lucas Di Giantommaso  

Lucas is an exceptional puck-carrier with the inclination to create space for himself almost out of nowhere. He has excellent sharp edges and slick puck skills. Plays the game the right way with an awesome compete level.

 Nigel Piercy  

Nigel is a high compete winger who plays the game at a very high pace. His edge work and agility are high end. His skating and work ethic is paired with good puck skills and is equally effective at scoring and setting up his line mates.

 Noah Cochrane  

Noah is a super agile smooth skating defenseman with great edges. Active in the rush and in the O Zone, with the ability to make hard, crisp first passes while having a top notch shot. Noah is great in one-on one situations and creating turn overs in the neutral zone leading to offensive opportunities. Congratulations Noah, very excited to have you join the Wolves.

 Brock Cummings  

Brock is a playmaking forward who can facilitate offense easily. He is skilled with the puck and has a high hockey IQ when in possession. Brock has great awareness of his surroundings as a complete 3 zone player with a calculated approach in each area.

 Luca Ricciardi  

The Sudbury Wolves are proud to select Luca Ricciardi from the U16 Thunder Bay Kings. Luca is a skilled, smart, physical, two-way center, with great hands and vision. He is strong in the face-off circle and is responsible in his own end. A player that can be used in all situations, Luca brings a 200 ft. game to the Wolves. Luca is an amazing young man and has a ton of potential. We look forward to seeing him in a Sudbury jersey. Welcome to the Wolves Luca!

 Nolan Defazio  

A fast, skating playmaker who is defensively sound and has excellent vision & passing ability.

 Luke Ranieri  

Luke is a good skating mobile 2-way defenceman who makes a strong first pass and takes care of his own end. He can also be trusted on the penalty kill to preform excellent under pressure. Luke is an all-around great teammate.

 Andrew Brown  

Andrew is smart, excellent defender who displays a willingness to play hard and sacrifice for his team. He is very active in the offensive zone and makes excellent choices at the offensive blue line. Andrew possesses excellent character with a high compete and work ethic. Welcome to the Wolves Andrew
