With the World Juniors wrapped up and the 2020 Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game right around the corner, Sportsnet’s Sam Cosentino has unveiled his latest 2020 NHL Draft Prospect Rankings, a list of 31 players that dropped on Wednesday.
A total of seven OHL players are included on the list including four names in the Top-10.
Sudbury Wolves centreman Quinton Byfield, who comes off a gold medal performance with Canada at the World Juniors, sits second on the list behind QMJHL star Alexis Lafreniere of the Rimouski Oceanic. Byfield and Lafreniere’s Team Canada teammate Jamie Drysdale of the Erie Otters trails close behind in the sixth spot.
OHL scoring leader Marco Rossi sits fifth on the list. The 18-year-old Austrian centreman is producing at a remarkable 2.38 point-per-game pace, resulting in 69 points (26-43–69) over 29 games this season for a 67’s team that is riding a current 16-game winning streak.
Saginaw Spirit forward Cole Perfetti rounds out the Top 10 selections, coming in at eighth on the list. The former fifth overall pick in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection has guided the Spirit to an honourable mention in the past two editions of the Kia CHL Top 10 Rankings. Perfetti, who will compete in next week’s Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game alongside each of the other six players on the list, has 64 points (22-42–64) over 38 games this season.
