David Bowen Joins Wolves Radio Broadcast Team

(Greater Sudbury, ON) The Sudbury Wolves, in partnership with CKLU, are pleased to welcome Wolves alumnus David Bowen to the airwaves as a member of the play-by-play team for the 2022-23 season as the team gets set to embark on the upcoming season in September.

“I am beyond blessed and grateful for the opportunity to join the Sudbury Wolves broadcast team on 96.7,” said Bowen. “I am looking forward to being apart of the Wolves family again and making the most of a dream opportunity. I can’t wait to get started.”

“CKLU 96.7fm would like to join the Sudbury Wolves in welcoming David Bowen to the radio broadcast team for this coming 50th anniversary season,” said CKLU General Manager Rob Straughan. “It’s a full-circle-moment to have a member of the Bowen family back on the local radio airwaves again, calling Wolves games just like the legendary Joe Bowen did back in the 1970s!”

Bowen played for the Wolves between the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons. He also played three seasons for the Rayside-Balfour Canadians during this time. David is also the son of Toronto Maple Leafs play-by-play legend Joe Bowen who also got his career start with the Wolves. The Unionville, ON native is entering his third year of the Sports Administration program at Laurentian University.

“We are very excited to be adding David Bowen to our broadcast team for the upcoming season,” said Miranda Boivin, SWSE Marketing Manager. “When finalizing our radio plans for the upcoming season, the opportunity arose to have David join the team through our partnership with CKLU and the Sports Administration Program at Laurentian and we thought it would be a great opportunity to give a nod to the history of the team, while also giving an alumnus a chance to make his own mark on the game. We are excited to see what David will bring to the broadcast this season.”

David will join the team as the play-by-play announcer on the road for the Wolves as well as for select home games and will be joining our talented radio team.

The Wolves play-by-play can be heard on CKLU 96.7, CKLU.ca and Mixlr.com starting September 30th when the Wolves open their 2022-23 season against the Barrie Colts. For the full 2022-23 schedule, click HERE.
