Hounds Edge Wolves

The Sudbury Wolves closed out their home exhibition schedule tonight with a hard fought 4-2 loss to the hands of the Soo Greyhounds. The Wolves exhibition record now stands at 2-1 with only one contest remaining tomorrow night in St. Catharine’s when they face off against the Niagara Ice Dogs.

JAKE RYAN opened up the scoring for the Wolves with a nice feed from sophomore forward JAKE HARRIS. DYLAN STAPLES responded for the Greyhounds with an unassisted goal to tie the game up at one heading into the break. The Hounds held the edge in shots after the first by a margin of 10 to 6.

Ryan continues to have the hot hand this preseason as he now has 3 goals and one assist through three exhibition games.

BRODY SILK gave the Wolves a 2-1 edge at the 13:09 mark of the second period. The period looked all but over before newly acquired Greyhounds forward MITCHELL DEMPSEY potted one from the slot with 7.5 seconds remaining to tie the game up at two heading into the third frame. The Wolves outshot the Hounds 9-7 in the second period.

The game remained tied until the 9:17 mark of the third period when NICK COUSINS found the back of the net to give the hounds a 3-2 lead. The hounds sealed the deal 33 seconds later when MITCHELL DEMPSEY picked up his second goal of the evening to put the hounds up by two.  Despite getting outscored 2-0 in the third the Wolves did not go down without a fight as they outshot the Greyhounds 13-7 in the third period.

The Wolves open up their 2012-13 OHL season on home ice next Friday Sept, 21st when they face the Oshawa Generals. Tickets for the game can be purchased at the Sudbury Arena Box Office or by calling (705) 671-3000.
