The Sudbury Wolves would like to congratulate defenseman Owen Lalonde and prospective forward Dawson Baker for being named to Team Canada’s roster for the 2016 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge late Wednesday.
Lalonde and Baker are two of Canada’s sixty-six best young hockey players that have been selected to represent their country. The players will be divided onto three Canadian Teams (Black, Red and White). The hockey challenge is set to take place in Sault Ste. Marie from October 27th to November 5th where they will face the Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, Sweden and the United States in their quest for Gold.
Lalonde was Wolves first pick, the 2nd overall selection, while Dawson was selected in 4th Round this past April in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection.
The player selections were made by Ryan Jankowski, Hockey Canada’s director of player personnel along with Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence management group lead for under-17, Dale DeGray. A number of regional scouts including Sudbury Wolves General Manager Barclay Branch also had input into the player identification process.
