(Greater Sudbury, ON) The Sudbury Wolves announce that they have acquired 19-year-old defenceman Anthony DeMeo from the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. In exchange, the Wolves trade first year defenceman Drew Wawrow to Sault Ste. Marie as well as Sudbury’s 5th round selection in 2020 and Mississauga’s 3rd round selection in 2021.
“We are very excited to add Anthony to the Sudbury Wolves,” said Sudbury Wolves VP Hockey Operations and General Manager Rob Papineau. “He is a veteran defenceman with 191 games played in our league as well as 23 play-off games. He has been part of two very successful teams in Sault Ste. Marie and we look forward to his experience helping our hockey club. Anthony is a good skater who plays a strong positional game, makes a strong first pass and sees the ice well,” Papineau added.
DeMeo is a native of Port Washington, New York and is in his fourth season the Greyhounds. The 6’1, 190lbs. left-shot defenceman was a former 3rd round pick of the Greyhounds and can be described an a defensive defenceman who blocks shots and is a strong penalty-killer.
