Wolves Affiliate with Cubs and Spirit

(Greater Sudbury, ON) The Sudbury Wolves are pleased to announce that they have affiliated with the Sudbury Cubs (formerly Rayside Balfour Canadiens) of the NOJHL and the Stouffville Spirit of the OJHL for the 2021-22 season.

“We have had a very positive experience in affiliating with both of these teams in the past in the development of our prospects,” said Sudbury Wolves VP and General Manager Rob Papineau. “To us, it makes the most sense to affiliate with both teams as it allows us to have one in the north as well as one in the south in case of injuries on the road. We are looking forward to working with both teams again this season.  We know the people running both these franchises very well and have a great working relationship with them.”

The Sudbury Cubs franchise has a strong history with the Sudbury Wolves and recent players who have played for and developed with the franchise include Ryan O’Bonsawin, Zack Snow, Evan Krassey, David Bowen as well as current Wolves players Chase Stillman, Ethan Larmand, Giordano Biondi and Nick DeGrazia.

“The Greater Sudbury Cubs are pleased to once again be working with the Sudbury Wolves organization again this season,” said Sudbury Cubs General Manager Jeff Forsyth. “The benefit of the affiliation is very positive as experienced through both organizations winning division titles in 2019-20 season.  We look forward to replicating those successes again this year as we take great pride in player development.”

The Stouffville Spirit are in their third season as an affiliate team for the Sudbury Wolves and have also been excellent in the development of Wolves players including Isaak Phillips, Kosta Manikis, David Bowen and Andre Anania.

“We are really happy to affiliate with the Sudbury Wolves again,” said Spirit Assistant General Manager Thayne Hallyburton. “Rob and his team have been very helpful in player recruitment and with scouting.  The ideals of our program and the Wolves align perfectly as we take great pride in developing young hockey players for higher levels.”

Sudbury Wolves action gets underway this Friday night when the Wolves host Eastern Conference rivals, the Peterborough Petes.  Game time is 7:05pm and tickets are on-sale now at greatersudbury.ca/tickets.
