The Sudbury Wolves are pleased to congratulate our October Player of the Month award winners.
SKATER’S EDGE PLAYER OF THE MONTH
The Skater’s Edge player of the month for the month of October is overage defenceman Kyle Rhodes. Rhodes was acquired from the Guelph Storm in June and was recently named an Assistant Captain for the Wolves. The Powhatan, Virginia native has had a consistent presence is all games this season and has already doubled his goal totals from last season. The Sudbury Wolves would like to commend Kyle for his hard work and leadership on the blueline this season.
MOLSON 3-STAR PLAYER OF THE MONTH
The October Molson 3-Star player of the month is goaltender Jake McGrath. The Mississauga native enters his second season with the Wolves after being drafted by the club in the 8th round of the 2015 OHL Priority Selection. McGrath was named the first star of the game on three occasions and third star once. He had a standout game on Wednesday October 18th when the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds came to town and the Wolves skated away with a 4-2 victory with McGrath having a big part in that win. The Sudbury Wolves would like to congratulate Jake.
WOLVES UNITED COMMUNITY PLAYER OF THE MONTH
The Wolves United Community player of the month for October is defenceman Reagan O’Grady. O’Grady is in his fourth season with the club and was also recently named an Assistant Captain with the club. O’Grady participated in a number of community visits throughout the beginning of the season including stops at Holy Cross Elementary and R.L. Beattie. He also assisted with the Sudbury Wolves Summer Hockey Camp in August. The Lindsay native has been a strong leader on the blueline as well this season and his play has not gone unnoticed. In 14 games, Reagan has 2 goals and 2 assists for 4 points and is a +3. O’Grady is a tremendous leader on and off the ice for the Wolves and we are pleased to have him represent the organization in the community.
REG WILKINSON SCHOLASTIC PLAYER OF THE MONTH
The October Reg Wilkinson Scholastic Player of the Month is first year forward Blake McConville. Blake maintained an 87% average over grade 12 University level Chemistry, Advanced Functions, Data Management and Online Sports Management courses. The 6-foot-2, 205Ib. right-winger has played in 11 games this season. The LaSalle, Ont. native was a fifth round pick of the Wolves in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection. The Sudbury Wolves wish to congratulate Blake on his hard work on and off the ice this season.
TESC HARDEST WORKING FORWARD OF THE MONTH
Captain Michael Pezzetta has been named the October TESC Hardest Working Forward of the Month. The Montreal Canadians prospect enters his fourth season with the Wolves and leads by example with his hard work ethic. In 15 games this season, the Toronto native has 7 goals and 7 assists, scoring just under a point per game. The Wolves would like to congratulate Michael on his hard work and determination this season.
TESC HARDEST WORKING DEFENCEMAN OF THE MONTH
Kyle Rhodes has been named the October TESC Hardest Working Defenseman of the month in addition to being named the Player of the Month. Rhodes is a true leader and came to the Wolves after winning the Leadership award in Guelph last season. He works extremely hard on and off the ice to help his team and the Sudbury Wolves wish to recognize his efforts.
Player of the Month award presentations will begin this weekend when the Wolves host the Niagara IceDogs on Friday and Mississauga Steelheads on Saturday. Both games begin at 7:05pm.
