Wolves Drop Match-Up to Generals

It was a special Halloween Spooktacular night at the Sudbury Community Arena Friday night as the Wolves played host to the Oshawa Generals for the final time this season. The Wolves got off to a slow start and despite a solid second and third period the Wolves could not crawl back from a 2-0 deficit, falling by a 3-1 final.

The Generals came out hard in the first period, catching the Wolves on their heels. It was JACK STUDNICKA who scored first to put the Generals up 1-0 halfway through the frame. A hit by DARIAN PILON in front of the Generals bench started a scrum, sending both of the PILON brothers and REAGAN O’GRADY to the penalty box. O’GRADY was given the extra penalty, and the Generals capitalized at the end of the powerplay with the goal from DANIEL ROBERTSON to take the 2-0 lead. The Generals led in shots 15-5 after 20 minutes.

The Wolves gave the fans a lot to cheer in the second period with many great chances on Generals goaltender KYLE KEYSER. DAVID LEVIN made an amazing play taking the puck through three Generals players, but the play was whistled offside. MACAULEY CARSON scored for the Wolves beating KEYSER top shelf halfway through the period. AIDEN JAMIESON picked up the assist on the goal, as his pass landed perfectly on CARSON‘s stick. Carson’s lone goal was all the offensive in the second period, as the Wolves went into the dressing room after the second period down 2-1. The Wolves evened out the total shots on net with shots in the period 16-8 in favour of the Wolves.

Pressure continued to be applied in the third by the Wolves but KEYSER stood tall in net. The Generals goaltender made numerous good saves throughout the period to hold the Wolves off. The Generals added an empty net goal at the end of the period to close out the game 3-1. Final shots on net were 35-34 in favour of the Generals.

The Wolves will now travel to Barrie on Saturday to pay a visit to their divisional rivals, the Barrie Colts at 7:30pm. For updates, follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

The Sudbury Wolves are back home next Friday night, November 4th, when they welcome the London Knights for the only time this season. Puck drop is 7:00pm and this game is sponsored by CAA.
