Wolves Host Central Division Rivals in Double Header Weekend Matchups

(Greater Sudbury, ON) The Sudbury Wolves will host two Central division rivals this weekend in double header matchups as the North Bay Battalion visit the Nickel City on Friday at 7:05pm and the Mississauga Steelheads visit on Sunday at 2:05pm.

The Wolves continue to lead the Central Division and sit 4 points up on the Barrie Colts and Niagara IceDogs. The Wolves will welcome Quinton Byfield back to the line-up this week as they face off against three divisional rivals. Quinton returns from the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship with a gold medal with Team Canada.

The Battalion sit 5th in the division but are led upfront by Sudbury native Brad Chenier who has 42 points on the season. Their line-up also features Sudbury native Cameron Lamour in net.

Friday’s game is sponsored by Booster Juice who will be on-hand with prizes for lucky fans. It’s Health Sciences North night and the Wolves will be wearing special physician-themed jerseys which will be auctioned off throughout the game with proceeds going towards the new MRI scanners at Health Sciences North. The jerseys will be available for auction at the arena throughout the game, as well as select jerseys will be available online following the game at https://auction.chl.ca/. Prior to Friday’s game, the Wolves will hold a special pre-game ceremony to congratulate Quinton Byfield on his gold medal. Come down early and don’t miss out on the special TGIF 3-2-1 offers between 6 – 6:30pm with $3 tall boys, $2 hot dogs and $1 popcorn.

The Steelheads sit 6 points behind the Wolves in the Central Division race and feature three NHL draft picks including Dallas Stars 2019 1st round prospect Thomas Harley who leads the blueline offensively with 39 points in 37 games played. Florida Panthers prospect Cole Schwindt leads the Steelheads up front with 40 points through 38 games.

It’s Junior Wolves Sunday so don’t forget your skates so you can lace them up with the team following the game for a post-game skate.

Prior to Friday’s game, the Wolves will visit the Barrie Colts on Thursday at 7:30pm. Fans can tune into the live play-by-play on CKLU 96.7 and mixlr.com/sudburywolves. Fans can also watch on OHL Live and Eastlink Channel 10 and 610. This Thursday, fans can also come out to Overtime Sports Bar and Grill to join in on the SWSE Watch Party as both the Wolves and Sudbury Five take to the road. The party gets underway at 5:30pm and there will be lots of fun and prizes for fans in attendance. Overtime will also have special offers throughout the night.
