(Greater Sudbury, ON) The Sudbury Wolves announced Monday that they have reassigned 17-year-old forward Ryan Smith to the Collingwood Colts and 16-year-old defenceman Andre Anania to the Stouffville Spirit. Both Collingwood and Stouffville play in the OJHL.
Smith was selected by the Wolves in the 11th round of the 2018 OHL Priority Selection and played last season with the French River Rapids of the NOJHL where he had 36 points in 56 games. Anania was selected by the Wolves in the 4th Round of the 2019 OHL Priority Selection and played last season for the Toronto Red Wings Minor Midget.
“Both Ryan and Andre are great players who will be big parts of our future,” said Sudbury Wolves VP Hockey Operations and General Manager Rob Papineau. “However, at this time, they will benefit from more ice time and bigger roles on their teams this year in the OJHL.”
The Wolves roster remains at 24 heading into the final weekend of pre-season action including 14 forwards, 8 defencemen and 2 goaltenders.
The Wolves resume pre-season action this Friday September 13th when they head to Timmins to face-off against the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. They are back in action at home on September 27th for their 2019-20 Home Opener. Tickets are on-sale now at Sudburywolves.com.
