The Sudbury Wolves have traded overage goaltender Mario Culina to the Kitchener Rangers in exchange for their 8th round pick in 2019. The Sault Ste. Marie native was acquired by the Wolves in November on waivers and helped the team to 2 wins in his 10 games with the Wolves in which he had a 3.44 GAA and 0.903 Save Percentage.
“The Sudbury Wolves would like to thank Mario for his contribution to the Wolves over his short stay in Sudbury,” said Sudbury Wolves Vice President of Hockey Operations & General Manager, Rob Papineau. “He is a quality young man and we want wish him the best in Kitchener in the last few months of his OHL career. Mario is a champion and while only in Sudbury for a short time, his work ethic and approach to every game and practice will leave a lasting impact on our team. We have a lot of faith and confidence in both Jake McGrath and Marshall Frappier as our goalies both this year and into the future.”
The Sudbury Wolves will travel to Barrie Thursday to face the Colts at 7:30pm before returning to action at home on Friday against the Mississauga Steelheads in the first match-up of a double header weekend.
