Have a Heart Give a Hat!

Have a heart and give a hat!  This was the message that was shared at a media event held at the Travelodge Hotel Sudbury today.  Representatives of Travelodge Hotel Sudbury and the Sudbury Wolves launched the 2nd Annual Have a Heart Give a Hat Campaign.  This initiative is to the betterment of those using the services at Better Beginnings Better Futures (BBBF).

On December 8, 2012, Travelodge Hotel Sudbury is sponsoring the Sudbury Wolves hockey game and is inviting the community to attend.  In doing so, attendees are asked to bring a new toque, pair of mittens, gloves, or scarf and donate the winter accessories to Better Beginnings Better Futures.  Better Beginnings Better Futures will distribute them during their Coats for Kids Campaign and throughout the winter.

“The Sudbury Wolves are supportive of this community-minded campaign and we are excited to partner with Travelodge Hotel Sudbury once again.  We know that our city has a huge heart and our fans will assist in providing needed items to deserving people,” said Blaine Smith, President, Sudbury Wolves.  “Our Northern winters can be cold and our organization certainly sees the benefit of supporting this campaign and assisting with the collection of new toques and other winter accessories at our game on Saturday, December 8th.”

“We are very happy to once again partner with the Sudbury Wolves to the benefit of Better Beginnings Better Futures.  We launched the Have a Heart Give a Hat Campaign last year with the full intent of making this an annual event at our hotel sponsored hockey game,” said Jennifer Keen, Director of Sales, Travelodge Hotel Sudbury.  “Approximately 1,500 pieces were collected last year and our goal is to double that number this year.  We find inspiration in the work that community agencies like BBBF perform and look forward to a success campaign.”

“Campaigns such as Have a Heart Give a Hat and Coats for Kids make a huge difference in improving the quality of lives for our youngest citizens and their parents”, said Carole Dodge, Director, Better Beginnings Better Futures.  “I truly believe that those that receive will someday duplicate the thoughtfulness and the generosity.  Assisting those that are less fortunate creates a chain of gratitude, joy and hope.”

Collection boxes will be located beside the Better Beginnings Better Futures display in the Lower Lobby near the Wolves Souvenir Shop in the Greater Sudbury Arena.  Everyone is encouraged to drop off new winter accessories and receive a ticket for a prize valued at over $300 from Travelodge Hotel Sudbury and the Sudbury Wolves.  Travelodge Hotel Sudbury will also be giving away several other prizes throughout the game.
